Thanks for your replies.
I received several reassurances of finding plenty of GF food once on the
ground in New Zealand.
Suggestions for the air included:
Asking ANZ if the "gluten intolerant" meals were actually safe for celiacs
on the chance that the warning was for those who had an anaphylactic
reaction. I will do this in spite of having heard from several sources that
it's not safe for celiacs (apparently they suggest the fruit tray).
Taking packaged foods rather than fresh. Also, apparently there are bins to
dispose of unused food before you get to customs.
Getting a letter from a doctor stating the medical necessity for GF meals so
we can bring food on board. This might be useful since I've been hassled by
TSA about bringing homemade food on airplanes in the past.
I appreciate that there's so many of you willing to share your experiences
with others on this list.
