Thanks for the info Tom, at this time, I am just curious about it and might
have a chance to mess with one in a couple of weeks. Not sure how much I
would use it and what I really want is the OCR component. I have the
Kurzweil stuff on my PC and a flat bed scanner but don't use it much because
I have to bring everything to the computer. Seems like it would be much
more convenient to bring the computer to the reading materials. Thanks, Jim

Jim, the ocr is definately inferior to a flatbed scanner. You pretty much
have
to buy the scanning stand to do much good. I've had no luck freehand
scanning,
or at least very little luck. I do need to try the new update of the
firmware.
It processes a page in about eight seconds. If you can get the machine on a
grant it would be worth playing with but if you have to plunk down $800 for
the
machine and another couple hundred for accessories such as memory and the
reading stand and you want the dictionary etc. I'd hesitate.
