If you can be confident that peaking for maximum received noise corresponds
to a reasonably low SWR, you could use the rig's tuner to deal with what's
left. I assume that this is a manually controlled tuner. If it was
automatic, then I would be concerned about the tuners "fighting with each
other" as they are both automatically tuning your system. The optimum
solution would be to have your TW-1 in the line and do all of the SWR
minimization in the external tuner, and run the rig with its internal tuner
disabled.

Everyone seems to think using an internal tuner and an external tuner
together is a bad idea. I'm not knowledgeable enough to contradict
that. You were talking about gettings the MFJ noise bridge. That's
an excellent way to adjust for minimum SWR. I got one to use with my
tube-type amplifier, but am not using it since getting the ALS-600
and MFJ-998. It would sound like a perfect option for you in the RV.
