Wow, I never knew about pushing the PM button then one of the
buttons on the bottom row. That's amazing. It always amazes me
when I find out new stuff about a radio I have owned for five
years.  Jim WA6EKS

Subject: Re: TMV 71A PM question.

I don't know what it stands for, program something.
What it does is let you save radio configurations. If you push
the pm
button and then buttons on the bottom row, it goes to that
configuration. Far left will say pm off and next pm one and so
forth.
Once you have a configuration you want to save, you press
function, pm
key, and then the key you want to assign to that, 1 through 5.
Bottom
goes off, one, two, and so forth.

I think the default is changes you make are held. There is a
menu
choice, I forget where without looking, that turns this off.
I've done
this so if I mess something up, all I have to do is turn radio
off and
then back on, it goes to last program configuration I was on. If
you
make changes you want to be permanent, just do function, pm key,
and
number 1 or whatever. It is a great feataure of this radio, you
can set
voice volume, bands, power off and so forth. All of these are
saveable
under each configuration. I have one of mine set, for example,
to
monitor two uhf repeaters on band a and b. I have another as
default
which is 2 meters on a and 440 on b. It is as simple as hitting
pm key
and number 2. Radio reboots and there you are.

Hope this makes sense.

 Yes, I know PM means Program Memory or maybe partial memory, but
 I am always hitting the button just below the power button so
the
 rig won't say PM or PM 1 or whatever. I once heard it say PM 5,
 never figured out how it got to PM 5, or how I got it turned
off,
 Guess I'll have to read the manual, Jim WA6EKS

 Hi Matt, sorry disregard my previous response. After I sent the
 email I rea=
 lized that you meant the reverse button next to the TX Power
 button.
 However, I have another question for anyone. On the TMV71a
when
 I power up=
 or change receivers to the B receiver the last thing it says is
 "PM Off" w=
 hat does that mean?
 Thanks

 No, need to find a different offset. You need to hit function
 key,=20
 followed by the plus/minus key. Each time you do this, you
 toggle=20
 between modes: plus, minus, and simplex. You'll know where you
 are=20
 because if you hit the offset key by itself, hit the A button
 (for=20
 example), and then repeat the process, you'll either hear a
 frequency=20
 change or not. In automatic, any repeater on 2 meters above 147
 has=20
 a plus offset; any repeater below 147 has a minus offset. Hope
 this=20
 helps.--Matt.

 P.S. Get up on the HandiHam Web site. There's an audio demo of
 this=20
 by Steve Dresser.

 Matt, interesting you ask this. Bob and Tony were here last

 We got the =

 set it to a negative offset. Is that the same issue you have?

 Yes, my bad. TMV71A. How do I change the repeater offset for

 Jim, sorry I missed you yesterday on 147.195. I just checked
out
 my t =
 =3D20
 m v
 71 A. Menu 100 allows you to set low and high scanning
 peramaters.  =3D2=
 0
 Menu 101 allows you to set frequency steps for your v f o.
 With=3D20
 reguard to Matt's question, I don't know how to set an odd
 repeayter=3D2=
 0
 offset.
 However, a few
 weeks back, someone on the list posted that information.
Perhaps
 that=
 =3D20
 someone will do it again. hth. 73. Doug, N6NFF

 Doug, I'm curious, what do those menu selections do for the rig?
 I am listening to 147.195 if you want to call me there, Jim

 Curtis, in order for your t m v 71 A to see menus 100 and 101,
 your=3D20
 radio must be in the v f o mode, not the m r memory recall mode.
 Push=
 =3D20
 the button in the uupper left hand corner of the radio. If you
 hear=3D2=
 0
 the voice say v f o, you're good to go. You will then see menus
 100=3D2=
 0
 and 101.  h t h.  Doug, N6NFF

 Hi all! I have the radio, but seems there is no menu 100 or 101.
 One of
 them is "programmable vfo" and the other is "step size."
 Why are my two menus missing?
 THANKS! I am creating a braille copy of the menu system with
 comments=3D=
 20
 as to how to program memory channel names using the microphone,
 all put=
 =3D20
 together in one place and it should be available soon!
