I only operate SSB and CW on six meters, so I can't tell you anything about
the FM portion of the band. I do believe that the simplex frequency for FM
is 52.525 but you had best confirm that. We operate 99% of the time from
50.100 to 50.175. The domestic calling frequency is 50.125, and the DX
calling frequency is 50.110. I have a 9 element M Square yagi at a tad over
80 feet, and use a Kenwood TS480SAT driving a Commander VHF-1200 amp. I
normally run about 1300 watts, and I feed the yagi with a combination of
LMR900 and LMR600. The entire six meter station works very well.

Wow! Sounds great. Am thinking of putting up a 6-meter
dipole. Before I do that, I have a few questions about 6 meters:

Which mode do you use the most on this band to get all those
long-distance contacts?

If you use FM to access repeaters, what are the splits, and what's
the simplex freq for this band?

Have never operated on 6, and now have the opportuniyt, given that I
have a pretty roomy backyard and a good hams network of guys able to help.

Thanks in advance.--Matt.

P.S. Had my second DX contact via CW a week ago today. Spoke with
I1MMR, Mauro in Genoa, Italy. Nice to have that general ticket and HF.
