Hi!
It was still two years when I got mine in May 1977, was slated to expire in
'79, but I had superceeded it by upgrading to general before that time.
I got WD8LDY as my novice call, and when the recent discussion of abolishing
the vanity fee came up, I thought heck, I already got a vanity call fee free
because it's probably the first thing about me that everybody knows, hi hi.

Acording to Wikipedia, the 2-year novice term came in with incentive
licensing in the late 60s and it was later extended to 5 years and was
