Alan,

On my I6, there is an end button, that's e n d button, that pops up just 
above the home key button at the bottom.  It just says end.  Tap it and you 
can cut the call off at any time.  I've done the same thing you are asking 
about many times because they changed the end button to different places, as 
I recall, over the various version.  You feel like a nut trying to tap 
around to get the message cut off.  I hate it when I ring somebody up at 
midnight because I tapped in the wrong place and dialed a number.  It is 
sort of hard to find but it should be about the width of your index finger 
right directly above the home key button.
