In a message dated 98-02-04 22:04:24 EST, you write:
<< Firstly, where might I find recipes? I've read _NeanderThin_ and
perused the recipes in the back, but I'd like to have more on hand to keep
my diet varied. I noticed that Dr. & Virginia Atkins have a cookbook out;
the recipes there have a much lower incidence of dairy and grains in them
than in my other cookbooks. Has anyone tried adapting these to this diet?
Several of us came to paleolithic eating via other low carb plans like Atkins
and Protein Power, and yes you can use/adapt the pertinent recipes. I also
find that older cookbooks (before the low fat craze) have a lot more recipes
that we can adapt.
I would like to see those of us on the list post more recipes, and I'll commit
to posting 2-3 a month, myself.
Secondly, are all grains to be avoided completely, or only the ones
containing gluten? My wife, who is not adopting the paleolithic diet but
is sympathetic, likes to include brown rice as a staple of her (mostly
vegie) diet.
Most of us avoid all grains.
