I have a very old light sensor I got from maybe the SF
Lighthouse. It's a small molded plastic thing into which you
plug a nine volt battery which becomes the handle. The unit has
a knob and can be used either as a passive light probe or can get
feedback from a small light that radiates from the same lense
that receives light. I never figured out the uses for that but
maybe it was a primative way to figure out colors. Jim WA6EKS

What kind is the one you found?
Can it distinguish between close lights?

Ed and list,
Yes, I think I would've tried that but, fortunately, I found the
old one a
few minutes ago so all is well. Man, I'm surprised at how hard
it is to find
these things online nowadays. I realize there's an iPhone app
for it but not
all blind people have iPhones so you'd think there'd still be a
need for
them.

Lou, could you partly cover the hole to desensitize the one
unit? might be
worth a try.. G L

Subject: OT: light sensor
Hi all,
i picked up some part-time hours at a local radio station and I
need a
light
sensor to tell me the status of various things on the audio
board.
Somewhere, I have 1 or 2 of the triangular-shaped ones with the
slide
switch
and the built-in permanent shade around the sensor. That's what
I used
when
I was working before and it worked just great for that purpose.
However, I
can't find it and I need to replace it sooner rather than later.
I also
have
a sensor from the NFB which is essentially a frame with 2
tripple-a
batteries and it works well but is far too sensitive for this
job. It has
a
removable shade but I cant get it to stay on. Any
reccomendations? Thanks
and 73. Lou WA3MIX
