I just talked to Chris, KF7P, and ordered the entrance panel box, much like
Steve described in his post, including the through the wall conduit kit and
the wall plate that goes inside the ham shack to make the cables coming out
of the wall look neater.

Thanks Steve! If it weren't for you, I would have never known about these
boxes. This is absolutely the best, most helpful list I have ever been a
member of!

Ron,

I put one in about a year and a half ago, when I moved the shack to
another part of the house. I spent the extra money and got the powder
coat finish, and the keyed lock.

Construction is robust. Also, the door has a stainless steel piano
hinge and is tightly gasketed.

I got the 18 gauge medium size box. It has 8 grommeted holes for
cables. I also got the copper plate, although the standard aluminum
probably would have been fine. Since I already had Alpha Delta surge
arrestors, I had him drill the plate for these. Since I was going through
the wall behind the box, I had him punch the hole and provide the PVC pipe
and fittings to pass cables into the house.

I am pleased with the whole setup. I found Chris to be very easy to
deal with and he responded to e-mails promptly.

Hope this helps, Steve KW3A
