My first sideband rig was a Central Electronics 20A with a converted 
BC348 as a vfo.  I used it to drive a Globe LA1 linear that gave 320 
watts PEP input.  I used the receiver, an HQ-170C I think, to null 
out the carrier.  I think it worked fairly well and I always got good 
signal reports using my D104 mike.  Those were the days!
