I think that's a great idea, Howard, because it's always very interesting
to see how we do things, especially those things that the sighted world
doesn't think we can or should do.
If computers are a challenge for him, perhaps the episode could be recorded
from your QTH.
We all have different skills and abilities, and I am always very respectful

This seems like a really impressive guy to boot.
I'd be very interested to know about the techniques he has developed for
safely using his power tools to cut wood, and for making precise
measurements, especially since he apparently has no usable eye sight. This
is not to say it can't be done; it's more a question of curiosity in my
mind regarding exactly how he does it.

Rick did a great job. As I think of it, he could probably build things for
anybody else on this list to.
Shipping wouldn't be to bad.
He has been working with his hands since he was five. He lost the rest of
his eyesight 5 years ago.
No fancy rehab center, he just kept on using his power tools and being
creative.
He gave me a drink stand, which has a slot for the handle of a coffee cup
built in to it.
Coffe cups, beer mugs, rocks glasses, they all fit. I fvolunteered to
research this.

As for logging software both for general logging, and possible contest
logging, take a look at n3fjp.com
I know the software has glitches at times, but overall, I think it works
extremely well for what it tries to accomplish.
At the current time, I'm using an old Windows XP laptop and Jaws here for
logging, although this summer, I'm thinking of upgrading to a Windows 7
logging computer.

Well, my friend built me a fantastic shelf for my radio desk. If I had
given him the radios he couldn't have made better measurements to make them
look like they were built in to it.
The purpose of the shelf was to make room for a netbook and a real keyboard.
I will need a range extender to get it to hit the Internet.
So what software do I install?
I want to have a loging program for regular qsos and contesting.
Dx spoting and jumping the radio to the right frequency would be cool.
Controlling the ts-590 and running cw would be fun to.
I have windows 7 and window-eyes 9.1 installed.
I also have a jaws demo, and NVDA 2015.
If I plug the computer in to AC power, I get a lot of garbage in the radio.
I have 6 hours of battery power, so I can live with that.
I think if I connect the PC to the 13.8 VDC supply, I will have enough power
to run the computer.
Maybe eventually I will modify a headset with one ear for the radio and one
ear for the computer.
Who knows where this will lead?
The next thing is to mount hooks for the HF and VHF radio hand mikes on the
sides of the shelf.
The shelf is stained, I don't know the color. It has puarter rounds to add
strength where the shelf meets the sides.
There is a board under the back, with room for the wires to get out.
5.25 inches high, 23 inches wide, and 20 inches deep.
He even put a little edge around the top to keep stuff from sliding off.
The top fits computer, keyboard, tw1, amplified mobile speaker, and coffee
cup.
Underneath is the ts-590, ldg-100 tuner, and tmv-71.
