Well, my friend built me a fantastic shelf for my radio desk.  If I had
given him the radios he couldn't have made better measurements to make them
look like they were built in to it.

The purpose of the shelf was to make room for a netbook and a real keyboard.

I will need a range extender to get it to hit the Internet.

So what software do I install?

I want to have a loging program for regular qsos and contesting.

Dx spoting and jumping the radio to the right frequency would be cool.

Controlling the ts-590 and running cw would be fun to.

I have windows 7 and window-eyes 9.1 installed.

I also have a jaws demo, and NVDA 2015.

If I plug the computer in to AC power, I get a lot of garbage in the radio.
I have 6 hours of battery power, so I can live with that.

I think if I connect the PC to the 13.8 VDC supply, I will have enough power
to run the computer.

 

Maybe eventually I will modify a headset with one ear for the radio and one
ear for the computer.

Who knows where this will lead?

The next thing is to mount hooks for the HF and VHF radio hand mikes on the
sides of the shelf.

 

The shelf is stained, I don't know the color.  It has puarter rounds to add
strength where the shelf meets the sides.

There is a board under the back, with room for the wires to get out.

5.25 inches high, 23 inches wide, and 20 inches deep.

He even put a little edge around the top to keep stuff from sliding off.

The top fits computer, keyboard, tw1, amplified mobile speaker, and coffee
cup.

Underneath is the ts-590, ldg-100 tuner, and tmv-71.
