Be sure you didn't activate the DRV function.   This is band specific 
and takes the  output of the driver transistors and sends it to one of 
theRCA jacks  on the rear panel to drive a transverter or something. 
The button is the leftmost of the 2 buttons above the keypad.    Short 
press toggles the meter and long press activates DRV.

If this is your problem, a long press will get you out.   I haven't done 
  the new firmware yet, but seem to think that this button now speaks. 
It didn't speak in older firmware versions and a lot of  us got bit by this.
