ok, now that I know it's possible how do I set up the network so that the
two computers see each other...it's been awhile since I did this and my main
purpose is so I can use the printer on the old computer...can I set it as
the network printer?

It is certainly possible. Because only one device can transmit at any
moment, I wouldn't recommend using this a lot -- better if you can use a
wired connection for the laptop for any major transfers. But in a pinch
or for small files, wireless should work fine.

I am wondering if it is possible to share files through my Wireless
Router between My old computer running win98os2 and my wireless laptop
running XPpro SP3? My old win98os2 computer's NIC is wired to the router
w/cat5 cable, the laptop using wireless.
Thankyou for your input,
Gregg
