Hi Steve, I found my USB to 590 cable, tried to download the
software but only seemed to get the instructions. I also tried
to get the com port driver but nothing happened when I clicked on
the link to the driver from the firmware instructions. I also
need to get the other program so I can store the memories on the
PC so I won't have to re-do all the memories after upgrading. I
will take it slow but hopefully get it one of these days. 73 and
thanks, Jim WA6EKS

Jim,

There's absolutely no risk to upgrading to the latest version of
the
firmware. Even if the upgrade doesn't work, you just rerun the
software.

The benefits of the new firmware are: more feedback from the
speech unit, a
way to enter split frequencies, and independent receive and
transmit
equalizer settings for each mode. Some people have reported
improved
receiver performance, but I haven't noticed that, and it's not
mentioned in
the list of enhancements. I'm quite happy with the new firmware,
and
recommend it highly.

Steve

I haven't heard any feedback recently about the firmware upgrade
for the TS590. Questions for those who have upgraded their
rigs,
is it worth it and how risky is it to do? 73, Jim WA6EKS
