The spec sheet says this laptop will handle 8GB DDR3l 1600 SDRAM. It should
be recognized automatically. Don't subject the RAM to shock or liquids and
it should be easy to install, but some machines make this harder than
others.
As for cloning, most computers come with a special partition (Usually D:)
that can be used to restore the drive to factory defaults. There's nothing
to stop you from cloning the bare drive, but I usually load my programs
first to save reinstalling in the event of a failure.
