I'm happy to say that I was able to partisipate in Field Day this year.
After quite a few years of not being active in Field Day, our club, The
North Hills Radio Club decided to get back into the fray. Three of us went
to near-by Folsum Lake to operate. Ourantenna setup wasn't the best, a
Ventenna rotateable diple. The radio was a Flex 3,00. We were also
restricted to daylight operation. So, we made only 44 q's. But we had fun.
The more important thing is that this was the first time for Field Day for
the guy who headed up the operation. He had never co-ordenated a Field Day
event before nor had he ever operated Fild Day in his life. I give him much
credit for being willing to try something he had never done before. We have
a few people who have done Field Day before but you didn't see them step up
to the plate. So, they had better not critisize him for something he may not
have done to their likeing. I'm sure that the fello learned many lessons
yesterday and that he'll do much better next year. Hopefully, more club
members will partisipate. One more thing. Field Day is about the only chance
during the year that I get to use my General Class privilages on hf. So, you
guys, do yourself a favor. Thank your luckey stars that you can operate hf.
I'd give anything in the world to do so. 73. Doug, N6NFF
