It turns off the phone transmitter.
There seems to be total paranoia that cell phones cause problems with
aircraft navigation and communication systems, also hospital equipment.
Extrapolating from this, as a physical therapist (as you guys over there
know my profession) supposedly, therapeutic diathermy can affect cardiac
pacemakers.
I have never heard of a radio ham running high power, with a pacemaker, who
has had an issue!
In discussion with a friend in the U.S. who is a radio ham, nor has he!
