From Wikipedia, for SMA:

From Wikipedia for BNC:

Isn't the internet wonderful.
Asking which one is better is like asking a Ford lover and a Shevvy lover
which is the better car maker.
They've both got their advantages and disadvantages.
They both tend to be less lossy at higher frequencies compared to a UHF
connector, or what some call a PL259 male, or SO239 female.
They're both a pain in the ass to put on coaxes lol.

Hi All:
I hear the terms "sma", and" bnc"used frequently(especially with regard to
HT's). Do these 3 letter designations actually stand for something, and if
so, what, and what are the advantages/disadvantages of each type?
Best regards,
