Jim,

I've noticed the same thing.  Even on CW, as you mentioned, I hear the pile 
ups spreading out to ridiculous sizes as far as width is concerned.  I have 
noted lots of guys punching up the auto send button for their call and 
having trouble answering if the DX is QRQ.  So it is interested how styles 
change over the years.
