Dave, I don't have one but I have heard that the Palstar auto is a great
unit but a bit pricey. I use a Palstar AT 2,000 which works well for me but
you need a pretty good s w r bridge. Good luck.

Subject: Another query re: LDG AT1000 pro II

Hi, People:
What are the higher ranges of s w r that this LDG AT1000 pro II tuner can
handle? Is it better on handling/matching s w r on some bands rather than
some others? Is it capable of bringing the s w r down to a 1 to 1 match,
notwithstanding an initial high (s w r of 4.5 or higher)?
The reason for my questions is that my Alpha Delta DX CC multiband
dipole with my 100 foot lmr 400 low loss feedline has a "naturally" low swr
on 20, 40 meters, with "acceptable swr on 10 and 15 meters, wherein I can
use the internal antenna tuner in my TS 590. However, I have not been
particularly happy with the results of the internal tuner, even when
attempting to reduce s w r from a starting point of less than 2 to 1.
Additionally, on 75 meters, I have an unmatched s w r of 7 to 1 or easily
upwards of 15 to 1 without a tuner, and using an old manual external MFJ
tuner takes exacting tuning of the knobs, with even a smidgeon of slight
alteration from a set point will cause the s w r to jump 3 or 5 points to
1. So my more urgent desire is to potentially find an external automatic
antenna tuner that can automatically tune for 75 - 80 meters, allowing for
frequency changes on the same band that doesn't require 30 minutes to do
manually.
So, in any event, I was wondering just how "powerful" is this LDG
automatic external tuner on "reducing" or achieveing a decent "match" for my
antenna system?
Thanks for your comments.

P.S.: If anyone wishes to provide the same commentary to the MFJ 998 or 994
external automatic antenna tuners, or any other model, such as Palstar,
etc., much obliged.

FYI... the LDG AT1000PRO II does not come with the metering included. The
metering is an option available at an additional charge. However, there are
some other significant improvements in the newer model, e.g. it tunes and
finds the lowest SWR point quicker.

Since you know the seller price sounds reasonable. I think from what I read
the Meter option is the difference in the Pro II.

Subject: AT 1000 pro question:

A friend of mine is selling his at1000pro for $325.

It is the pro not the newer pro 2.

Besides the different meters in the pro 2 which of course don't help us at
all are there any other differences that make it a better idea to spend the
extra money and get a pro2?

Do you gys think $325 is a good price for a used at1000pro?

I might like to see him go a bit lower but what I feel I am paying for is
the knowlege that this tuner will be in great shape and nothing will have
been cooked inside.

This is one device I would never usually buy used for just such a reason.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Don
