Greetings, knowledgeable folk,

I am posting to both lists, as I can't tell if this is a hardware or
software problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop, running Windows XP.The sound is
Sigmn Tel Audio.I Skype with family, but find that the audio out often
stops functioning (the audio in is fine).The problem affects both the
built-in mic and the head-set mic.Sometimes it works fine; sometimes
it's just not there.


I ran a speaker test and it was functional, though static-y.Skype says
I'm configured properly.

What else can I do to try and trouble-shoot the issue?Or is this a
familiar problem that someone can offer a solution to?
