Hi John

Ok that sounds good to me, it was the port issue I am not
sure about. I couldn't get echo link to work even with my
firewall turned off, I guess it was the ports. I think the
ports have to be opened on a router. I am using 3g internet,
I have access to mum's wifi but I only use it once in a
while. I think it'll be better for me to use a procxy but
for me this is something I have never dealt with. Can
someone help me to set it up please? I have an ipad but
again use it on the shared wifi so I am not sure if mum or
dad would like me messing with their router, they have
enough issues with the wifi as it is, the wifi is satellite
internet, we do not have broadband here. Would it work
through my 3g? I get a limit of 12 gb per month, I use it
with no issues with skype and telephone through skype too.

Regards

Adrien

Hi Adrian, welcome to the list. If you haven't tried
EchoLink in a
while, you should check it out again. The latest version is
much better
about working with routers and firewalls. The only ports
you have to
forward, if you do, are 5198, through 5200, and that poses
no threat to
your security, as far as I know. Also, if you have to, you
can use
EchoLink in proxy mode, and bypass your port issues
completely. If you
have a smart phone, either I OS or Android, you can get
EchoLink for your
device, and it is very accessible.

73, and hope this helps:
