I did on the ts2000 as well and it is a definite improvement...it is set by 
default from the factory on the attenuated setting...you simply move a 
jumper from one set of pins to another set immediately beside it...not too 
difficult as it is the only jumper in the radio and the pins are in a 4 pin 
box shape so you can't mess it up..

I did it on my 590 and it did help a lot, not very close to strong
stations though.  I had to get sighted help, first to find the jumers,
and second they are very very small.
