That's the strange thing.

I do not loose speech, and re-booting does not solve the problem.

In other words, even if I totally shut down the computer, the problem is
still there when it is totally re-booted.  And, I am still not able to  use
the keyboard in any way.

Tom,

Do you experience loss of speech when the system locks?  If not you may
reboot the machine using the re-start procedures.  It may not be the most
elegant way to go but it may be a work-around.
