Hi all: 

A friend of mine has a Heath SB-220 and its about 40 years old and I think on its 2nd set of 500Zs or perhaps the originals. Anyway he's now getting distorted voice on 40M but just fine on the other bands. it isn't the exciter as its just fine on 40M barefoot. I suspect the parasitics and he's getting some kind of oscillations. 
Thoughts?
