Interesting. ... He must have switched to split frequency operation soon
after I worked him.  I have to admit that when I was working the pileup for
a short time before I got through, it was hard to figure out what was going
on at times due to stations transmitting on top of him.

Shows the value of split frequency operation when the pileups get too big.
