Well John with the climate warming the way it is, we will
probably have Fire Ants here sooner than we'd like, along with
killer bees, malaria, Ebola, etc. . Seriously, I hope that
doesn't happen! Jim WA6EKS

Hi,

My answer for wasps is to tell my wife, who usually grabs a can
of wasp and
hornet spray, then after they are dead or gone one of us knocks
the nest
down.

Spiders are another subject, if they are outside we don't bother
them too
much since they do eat other bugs, but if they are inside we get
rid of
them, because we have brown recluse or fiddle back spiders and
they like it
indoors in closets, linen closets, and chest of drawers. I had
heard the
moth balls were good for keeping skunks out from under you house,
but I
hadn't heard that it worked for mice and spiders.

I have heard of using dryer sheets in a window air conditioner's
filter as
an air freshener, but if it will keep wasps away too fantastic.
Now all I
need is for someone to mention how I can get rid of or kill off
these dang
fire ants.

Thanks, and 73

My brother is an exterminator, my solution is what he told me.
There are
ways to get the same chemicals they use. Once you get rid of
them, put
 drier
sheets out, the cheap ones that have a strong smell, they don't
like the
smell of them and won't come back. I have them in all the
likely wasp and
hornet places around my house and it works and what was left I
put in the
 shed.

I'd look for an exterminator who specializes in getting rid of
wasps and
 =
hornets. We have that problem every year on our back deck, and
it's =
worth the $150 or so to have him come out and get rid of them
because he
 =
gets chemicals that we can't, and he knows how to do the job
without =
getting stung (which I don't). Call me a chicken, but I'd
rather pay =
the money and know that it's being done right.
