Hey, guys, when you are sending instructional/informational messages to us,
please identify which rig you are referring to. I have been trying to figure
out what button you have been calling the function button on the TS-590,
only to surmise that you were referring to the TS-2000 instead of the
TS-590. My TS-590 does not have any buttons that are referred to
specifically as a function button. There are two buttons that are
programmable that can be programmed to serve different functions, and there
are numerous buttons that have different functions, depending upon if you
just press them quickly or press and hold them for a time delay that can be
selected from the main menu, e.g. menu selection #2. However, the TS-590
does not have one button that is called the function button of which I am
aware. As a result, I've wasted quite a bit of time reviewing the materials
I have on the 590, trying to figure out where in the hell the function
button was to which some of you referred.

Howard et al, the function button is that vertical key just to the right of
the numeric pad. There's a nice front panel description for the 2000, and
other rigs as well, on icanworkthisthing.com.
