These are all great suggestions.

Our local club is very small, and we really don't have many members who are
interested in buying used gear at a reasonable price. ... It's a shame, but
it has been my experience.

So, I think on line sources like those you mention are very much worth
looking into.

I'm just not too experienced in this area, but now is as good a time to
start as any!

your local club's swap and shop website or forum...lots of ways to sell ham
gear.
Don't even bother with retailers as they need to sell their own equipment
and also need to make money on what they sell...

I don't know what h r o or other dealers might take in trade, but whenever I
asked a e s in Vegas, they wouldn't allow much at all.  You're much better
off if you can sell privately, although that takes longer.  If you've got
ham fests coming up, that is often a good place to swap or sell gear.  Good
