I found a whole batch of gluten free foods again...at Homegoods (in Marlton, NJ). Have no idea why, but they always have some interesting stuff in their gourmet boutique food aisle. Unfortunately, it's an odd lot here and there and rarely do you find the same thing twice or more than one or two of an item. (Watch expiration dates!)
This time, I bought Zena's All Natural Crunchy Chocolate cookies.....Gluten-free, sugar free, vegan, lactose-free, pro-biotic (and low glycemic, diabetes-friendly...yahoo!) Oh, and they're kosher, too. 3g of fiber in each cookie...and no sugar.... Too bad, I could only get one box. With my dedication to keeping the diabetes under control and efforts to lose weight, I so rarely allow myself cookies!
I'm emailing the manufacturer (info on the box) at [log in to unmask] to find out where their foods can be found on a more regular basis. After the holiday, when I get over to Whole Foods (in Marlton, NJ) or the healthfood store near my other home in Maryland (Chestertown Natural Foods), I will ask if they can be ordered. Stuff I looked at on the website is on back order. I may also phone the local NJ mom-and-pop healthfood stores....where I normally don't shop, to see if they are sold there.
The Crunchy Chocolate cookies are every bit as delicious as some of the more readily available brands, but have the health advantage and don't aggravate my diabetes.
