Hey Brad and Pat,
Your comment on exercise reminded me of a story that our college Phys-ed
instructor shared a long time ago. He said that there was a guy who
wantted to commit suicide, but he wanted it to look natural so he came up
with a plan to take up jogging. He bought himself some shoes and, his
idea was to run himself to death. I guess he figured that if he ran hard
enough, he’d have a heart attack since he was pretty out of shape. Well,
the first day out he ran as hard as he could, but he just didn’t die. He
tried again the next day and still he didn’t collapse. After about a week
of this he discovered that he wasn’t so depressed any more and he took up
jogging as a healthy habit.
I have no idea how true this story is, but it does illustrate the point
that exercise does fight off depression.
Kathy
