Steve, thanks for the advice. When the problem first occurred, I
took out the battery and tried several regular resets but didn't
know about the dots 2 3 reset. Just tried it to no avail. The
display is kind of working and makes a strange sound like all the
dots are trying to move. When I did the reset you suggested, I
could kind of read the display which is actually happening now as
I write you. Seems like something controlling the voltage to the
display is hosed. Everything else seems to be fine. The display
is actuY getting stronger but isn't very respontive. I also
tried the exercise braille from the support menu which kind of
worked as well. Anyway, thanks and have a wonderful independence
day and weekend. Jim WA6EKS

Jim,
If you haven't done this already, turn the unit off and turn it
on again =
while pressing dots 2 and 3 simultaneously. As long as your
display =
isn't really dead, this will activate both braille and speech.
If the =
above doesn't work, it's time to call Humanware. Good luck.

Subject: OT, Apex braille display not working
For anyone on the list who has an Apex unit, my braille
display=20
quit working last night. The rest of the unit is fine. Just=20
wondering how costly it is to fix, yah I know, a lot! I know=20
Humanware is the only option for repairs and it will also=20
probably take a long turn around time if I decide it's worth it.
=20
Could just get along using speech but love the braille. 73,
