Heidi- That's great! The only thing I would warn you about this is that
if your child has a life-threatening allergy, be very careful about taking
other people's word for anything. Many people do not realize that milk
is in margarine - used in baking often. After being shocked at the things
that contain milk, I don't believe anyone anymore. I know that I sound
very over-protective, but I think I have to be for now. One of Michelle's
two anaphylactic reactions was to bologna (Oscar Meyer low fat) - it contained
casein! From then on, I read every label even if I don't believe that
there is a chance of it containing milk. Also - be aware that companies
change their recipes for their products and you can't rely on past use.
Michelle at 2 1/2 also looks at me or her father anytime something is offered
to her. We've taught her to say that cows milk makes her sick - even though
she doesn't quite understand this, I think we have to start early with
these things.
