I had one of those Rocket radios also. I clipped the antenna wire to
everything, the dial stop on our phone, the wire fens outside and
finally I put up a long wire that really worked. When I hooked it up to
the long wire, I heard lots of stations,but the slider didn't help much,
cause the tuning was broad as a barn, but it sure was fun for a little kid!
