Evidently, needs the power as I connected it without power and it would not
key the amplifier. My radio is an ICOM 775 DSP and my amplifier is an
Ameritron 572B and tuner is an LDG AT1000

I used one with my TS-480, but haven't gotten it set up with my
TS-590 yet. I did get the cable to do that though. It's probably not
necessary with even a relatively new amplifier design and my Fl-2100F is
over 30 years old now, but it is convenient. It avoids wiring your own
plug to attach to the radio. As I recall, it takes it's power from the
TS-590, so an external power source is unnecessary, but I could be
remembering that wrong.
