I used one with my TS-480, but haven't gotten it set up with my
TS-590 yet. I did get the cable to do that though. It's probably
not necessary with even a relatively new amplifier design and my
Fl-2100F is over 30 years old now, but it is convenient. It avoids
wiring your own plug to attach to the radio. As I recall, it takes
it's power from the TS-590, so an external power source is
unnecessary, but I could be remembering that wrong.
