Thanks, Jim.

This clarifies things further.

I like your Excel example.

I'll back up my existing A C log files, just to be sure.

Tom,
Two things. First, the log software and the data are separate. Think of the
difference between Excel the program and a spread sheet, the data. If you
uninstall Excel, you don't remove all the spread sheets you may have on your
computer. It's the same with ACLog. The program can be uninstalled but all
your log data files are still there on your computer unless you go to the
directory where they are stored and hit delete on all of them.

Second, you cannot install the new version and still keep the old one. The
N3FJP site gives the instruction to uninstall the old version then install
the new one. John Miller said you can just install the new one without
removing the old. That may be true but I haven't tried it. However, if you
do install the new version, I'm almost certain that it would just overwrite
the old one.

Of course, you may wish to backup your log data anyway, say to a thumb drive
or something.

73, Jim

Jim:

I guess I'm still a bit unclear here.

If you uninstall your original version of AC log, where do your logs go?

I would think they would disappear if you uninstall the logging software.

Wouldn't you first have to save them somewhere, and then import them into
the new program once it is installed?

I'm obviously missing something here.

Thanks for your patience.

Tom,
As long as you are on one of the recent versions (and your 4.3 qualifies),
you just uninstall the old ACLog, download and install the new version, and
you are set. It keeps all of the configuration and data you have from the
old version.

This is great news, Jim.

Please keep us posted as you learn more.

One question I do have is this:

If I do the upgrade, how to I integrate my already-existing logs into the
new software?

Right now, I have a general log, but I also have my log from when I did
W1AW/8 back in February.
