I figure, about the only way to make the author of chirp sit up and take notice is to purchase his time. throw a few thousand USD at him from distributed sources with the proviso that he make the needed changes, he will. Who in their right mind wouldn't take the money? Hell, if we could get the folks at NV association (makers of NVDA) to shove a small amount his way, and then we announce to the world that we donated to his project for the express purposes of getting a much needed feature included (accessibility), he would have to take best effort to do so or look bad in the FOSS community (taking money and then not doing as requested would be the same as if he black listed himself).
most people don't think that a little money will work, but it is amazing what a few extra $$$ will do.
