I had forgotten this: There is a garden tool called a lawn
edger. Basically it is a rake type handle with a small cutting edge
at the bottom. i believe there may be an edge like a minispade and
also a version with a wheel-like end with a sharp edge. You run the
device along the lawn, cutting a small slot. The wire gets dropped
in to the slot, the slot gets walked over and closed and the job is
done. Perhaps easier for a sighted person to handle, but perhaps an
option. I knew someone years ago who buried a whole lot of wire this way.
