Yes, I agree that if they're tacked down well there shouldn't be a problem. 
I tacked mine down with chain link fence ties, and that has worked fine so 
far.

If you tack them down well, no one will trip or anything. Depending on your
yard they should work their way in to the ground on their own supposedly
fast though mine took 2 years but supposedly for most it's only a month or
so.
