I was very disappointed with the quality of the documentation I got from the
elecraft page. When I opened and converted the pdf files, I got lots of
extra characters, which made reading difficult. I cleaned up the getting
started guide for blind users, sent it back and got a nice thank you note.
Whether they put it up I don't know. I can send it to anybody who wants it.
I was going to record a getting started audio tutorial, which I will if
anybody is willing to read and critique it.
I am reluctant because their is still a lot I don't know about the radio. I
don't have it hooked up to a computer on a regular basis.
The elecraft software talks well, and I have used it to check for and update
the firmware.
The CW are arcane at best. High pitch turns a feature on and low pitch
turns it off.
Its an amazing radio, but you have to think differently. To tune across a
band, their is a delay, so tuning in SSB mode works better. Their are both
pre-amp and attenuate features, as well as an RF gain control. You really
can get the signal to noise ratio tuned well which makes it a very
comfortable radio to listen to.
It sounds much more like an analog radio than anything out there.
