Good afternoon all,
On several occasions I have mentioned that I am helping a friend, Stan
Schwartz, KH6CG, design a super station that will be on the air at
approximately this time next year. Stan purchased a farm in northern Florida
for the sole purpose of erecting his dream station, which will include 8
towers, several of which will be 200 foot rotating monsters. Perhaps the
most interesting tower though, is a heavy duty 89 foot US Tower mounted to a
twin axle trailer. The trailer has large outriggers to prevent the whole
contraption from tipping over when the tower is fully extended. I can
picture a ham living in a development where towers are strictly
prohibited, and the ham parking the trailer in his driveway, and only
extending the tower for a few hours here and there for operating, thereby
circumnavigating the no-towers-allowed rule. I think the arrangement has
great possibilities, HiHi.
