The mast is just a piece of pipe or something similar that holds the 
antenna up.   The part to be "built" is  the supporting structure for 
the mast/antenna.   What kind of roof?   What antenna?

Probably wouldn't need anything more than what would hold up a old style 
TV antenna.   Are you sure you want to punch holes in your roof?  There 
are wall mounts that will hold the mast  out a few inches to clear the 
edge of the roof.  Or a tripod as Howard suggested right on the roof itself.
