Alan:
To clarify, the auto-mode menu number for the TS480 is indeed 002.
And, yes, you are correct.
The 480 and 590 apparently will not change from CW to SSB, just because you
have changed band segments.
I guess you could actually program the rigs to do that by turning auto-mode
on, and setting up the parameters as described in the menu info, but that
sounds like a bit too much trouble for me, at least at this time.

Tom, I thought that we were talking about menu 002 in the 480. I don't
anyone mentioning menu 024. I could be wrong, but I think that the
automatic mode selection relates only to upper and lower sideband. I have
never had a rig that changes to CW just because you go down to that section
of the band. If I am wrong about this, please correct me, Hi.

Subject: Auto-mode on the TS590 and TS480 again
Hi, all.
Well, I just checked the auto-mode option in menu 23 on the TS590. Unless
I'm doing something wrong, it didn't seem to make a difference whether the
option was turned on or off.
In other words, if I switched to the CW portion of a band from the SSB
portion, using keypad frequency entry, the mode of the rig did not change,
regardless of whether I had the menu option turned on or off.
Obviously, I'm missing something here.
Will try it with the TS480 out at the RV this week-end, using menu 002 for
that rig.
If anyone can clarify this mystery, I, and perhaps others, would appreciate
it.
