How do these loops work in comparison to the Buddypole, MP1, or
Alpha antennas? Jim WA6EKS

Woo hoo, Gary. You've topped all of the qrp posts I've submitted
to this
list with just one post! I've got to try that, when I get a loop.
The other loop manufacturer I'm checking into is Alpha Delta. I
don't know
much about them yet, but they are an American company and their
loop sells
for about a third of Alex's, loop, without a tripod included.

For Eric:
wicj mfj box are you speaking of?
for the rest of the list,
I have an alexloop and for portable work it is nice. very
efficient, = but
like all magnetic loops, very narrow band. It must be retuned
about = every
5 kc. To tune, turn off AGC and tune for max noise. That will =
get you
close enough.
For more general info, go to the alexloop web site. He has many
= articles
on magnetic loop construction.
I have checked into the blind hams 20 meter net using the alex
loop from =
inside my living room running ten watts with my elecraft kx3.

The other one is priced at over $300 with shipping from Brazil.

It is made of coax and comes with a travel bag.

I currently own both of them and yes they can be tuned by ear.

I also plan to try and use the MFJ tuing box to put between the
rig =
and the
loop to see how easy it is to find a null.

This box is made to use to tune a manual antenna tuner.

There are two other loops available.

One from a place called the Radio S
tore in Missouri. It also sells for $300 and comes with a bag
and =
tripod.
=20
The other loop which is very portalbe comes from Martin Lynch

=
in
England.
=20
It is priced at around $38.
=20
It can be hooked directly to the back of a Yaesu FT817ND or some
other
=
qrp
rig.

The loop from missouri has gotten great reviews on eham.
=20
Hoe this helps,
