This was a question asked of a panel over Gainako radio. In my view nobody gave an answer - How do we stop such abuses of citizens regardless of political party affiliation.

Arrests, detentions, tortures and unlawful treatments are by-products of an underlying problem(s). Until we address those problems any such by-products can pop-up anytime and anywhere to anyone. 

As a nation we need to establish our problem(s) and craft practical solutions that enable us push back on all unlawful treatment of our citizens. Expressing frustrations about Yahya is neither enough nor a solution.A National Democratic Agenda that garnered enough political leverage and resources will deter unlawful acts by state agents. 

The repeated efforts and hoping that some election victory is possible is what's holding us back. In fact the debate is only interesting if a party is supported and/or opposed. It seems we're not interested in making Gambia 'A Functional Institutional Democracy' in its own right.

This is not to say am against an individual and/or party............simply that's not our problem. Lets figure what's wrong with Gambia and search for solutions to that Gambia problem. In fact isn't it obvious parties that can't protect their followers from thug/state agents stands no chance of winning against such apparatus.
