Elderly? That's not us. We're not only than dirt yet or for that matter we're not part of dirt yet. Ha. (smiles)
Thanks for the report. Praying for you two. I know God is working on your behalf.

Subject: Sandy and Phil Report

> Have you ever noticed how the elderly, is that what I am, talk about their health and how they feel and the doctor's appointments they are going too and coming home from? Well, here we go. Sandy developed a large hematoma on her hip that sticks out like a golf ball and it stretches out, as it diminishes, nearly to the size of my hand. She had a doctor's appointment last Friday and they just want to keep an eye on it because it isn't all that uncommon. That's what I had in my back last time I went for surgery on January 13 I think it was. Anyhow, mine was a left over from the first surgery, apparently, but was internal. They are places where blood builds up in areas it shouldn't. Sandy has a lot of strong pain with this and they put her back on more powerful pain medication due to it. They are expecting the pain to last at least a month so pray the hematoma goes down and goes away sooner to take the pressure off her hip. She is getting around without her walker in short distances but she still has the walker near by to help her as needed.

> Not much has changed with me other than my left foot keeps trying to go to sleep. My lower left leg will start to tingle and my ankle aches from time to time and my shin. I still cannot walk normally but I make it work. I've marked off a spot in our dining room, across the one end of the living room, and into a hall that comes to 45 feet round trip. That is my walking path so I now can keep track of how far I am walking and I can do it when even the weather is too bad to walk outside. I walked 0.8 tenths of a mile the other day, which is for you Europeans, 1.3 KM, and the back of my legs are showing improved strength. The toes of my left foot have some numbness, as I have mentioned, and that hasn't changed for the last couple of weeks. I'm sure the walking alone will help; at least that's what the physical therapist say. Plus, the way our house is laid out, it is a straight area to walk with things like furniture, as well as a hand rail that goes across one end of the living room before opening up into the dining room. Although my balance isn't back to normal, I have things to grab and to guide me as I walk. I have a pedometer to let me know my progress which allows me to focus on walking and not having to worry about counting round trips.

> So, we both are improving. Sandy has really gotten political in recent months for some reason so we have had more time to talk about such things now that she is retired and doesn't have to leave for work every afternoon. Sandy's first medical transcription job started in Omaha Nebraska when she was 19 so she has about 45 years of medical knowledge under her belt. She still wants to find a part time job, maybe answering phone calls for some business or professional person, when she gets better. You know, like the phone answering and appointment scheduling she had once with a veterinarian? So pray the Lord opens a door such as that while she is recovering.
