Tom, I agree with you that Anderson Power Poles are great and use
them here, but I think they and especially the crimping tool are
overpriced. 73, Jim WA6EKS

I agree with John here.

Ring terminals are always best for power supply connections, if
you can use
them.

I also strongly recommend Anderson power poles for equipment
connections
where possible.

It's very easy to swap equipment if needed if everything is wired
in a
uniform way using power poles.

And, the crimping tool for making the power poles is absolutely a
breeze to
use. I got mine from West Mountain Radio about 6 years ago, and
will help
anyone with additional info if needed. I think the tool cost
$50, or $100
for the tool plus the complete set of additional dyes for other
types of
terminals.

I use ring terminals where connecting to the power supply if your
power
supply has the bolts for the connection and not the holes with
the screw to
clamp on the wire, crimp is perfectly fine. I also use Anderson
power poles
to make for easier changing around if need be but at the power
supply end,
if the power supply has the bolt type terminals, definitely use
ring
terminals, don't rap the wire around. I've seen a lot of
problems over the
years just rapping the wire around the bolt including at the EOC
I volunteer
at. I went in with ring terminals and my crimp tool and fixed
that. Many
will tell you a good crimp connection is just as good as a
soldered
connection.

 Hello everyone:

This may seem to be a rather naive question, but what is the
best
method = to be used when connecting the positive/negative leads
from a
= transceiver to its power supply?

Both radio, and supply are part of a =E2=80=9Cfixed=E2=80=9D
station,
so = connection removal is not anticipated.

If ring terminals are the better choice, is it preferred that
the =
wires be soldered to the terminals, or is
=E2=80=9Ccrimping=E2=80=9D =
 sufficient?

 I won=E2=80=99t type anything more because I don=E2=80=99t know
what =
sort of junk symbols may appear in this message when it is
posted to
 the = List.
